September 2002

Hello to all of my sisters. I am proud to be affiliated with Sisterfriends and thankful for this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you.

I was born in Oklahoma City but spent most of my youth in Baltimore until I returned in my teens to Oklahoma. I pride myself on being a professional woman of color. However, I consider my beautiful 4 year old daughter Milan to be my #1 accomplishment.

As a 33-year professional woman, single motherhood can be a challenge. Which is why one of the causes closest to my heart is to help with the prevention of teenage pregnancies. I also feel strongly about drug abuse and the effects it has on our families, and most importantly our children. My goal for our chapter is to try to make a difference in our communities and develop strong relationships with organizations using Sisterfriends as the platform.

To provide you a little more personal information about myself, and my hobbies, I can tell you I thrive on anything that allows me to utilize my creativity. In 2000 I created Ebony Visage, a beauty website for women of color. Outside of managing my web sites, I work some as an independent makeup consultant. I also enjoy home decorating and you can always catch me in my spare time shopping in thrift stores.

I am very excited about the direction Sisterfriends organization is heading. The positive support that I have received from our national chapter defines what Sisterfriends is all about. Specifically, what Sisterfriends means to me is unity, developing new friendships, social and community awareness and just plain ole' having fun! In closing, I'd like to leave with you a phrase I use as a motivator for myself and for the members of my chapter. "BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED".
