October 2003

Greeting Sisterfriends,

First and foremost, I would like to thank GOD for watching over all of us. I would like to also thank the Executive Board of Sisterfriends® for allowing me to be apart of such a tremendous organization & for giving me the opportunity to be in the Spotlight. Diovan Side Effect

A little about me…I am a 26 y/o recent graduate of Webster University in Washington, D.C. with a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources Management. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I am the member of Psi Chi (National Psychology Honor Society), American Scholar National Honor Society, and Who’s Who Among American College Students.

President - Baltimore Chapter

This coming spring semester I will be obtaining a second Masters in the field of Education with a specialization in Urban Development from Johns Hopkins University and then onto the Doctorate program in Education with a specialization in Urban Leadership Development from Morgan State University. In the near future I plan to open an academic tutoring & employment counseling center in Baltimore City that will aid children and adults of all ages. It is important to me to work in the field of Education because I will not only be able to give back to the community but help our youth reach their educational goals. For this reason, the Savvy Baltimore Sisterfriends Chapter is in the beginning stages of developing a mentoring program at an Inner City School. Our program will be for fifth grade girls, in which we will help to prepare them for middle school and the obstacles in which they may face by sponsoring workshops, having discussion sessions, and one-on-one mentoring. Our hopes are to eventually incorporate males into our program also.

My family life…I am the PROUD wife of Kevin Warren, who is an Honorary Brotherfriend of our chapter. Kevin helped us purchase items for our back to school drive for deserving children in the Baltimore County community. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary this past May 22 and will be renewing our vows next May in Fort Meade, Maryland. He is not only my husband but a WONDERFUL man & my BESTFRIEND I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am also the proud older sister of an amazing young lady. Mya graduated this past June from the Baltimore School for the Arts where her major was dance. This fall she began Towson University in Maryland and is majoring in Dance. Mya’s resume is very extensive. She has danced for the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) in Los Angeles, Alvin Alley, and this summer resided in New York for six weeks in which she received a full scholarship to attend The Dance Theater of Harlem. In her spare time (which is not often) she also teaches dance at her church.

In addition to spending time with my family, I love to spend time with my close friends, go shopping, travel, surf the internet, read, and mentor young adults.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone involved in Sisterfriends much success in all that they do within Sisterfriends and in their personal lives.

Butterfly Kisses!!
