Joy Davis

May 2004

Hi I am Joy Davis. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I am 36 years old.

I graduated from a HBCU (Fort Valley State University) of which I am very proud. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Georgia. My latest accomplishment is earning my doctorate degree in Education this year. It was indeed a great achievement for me as I had so many wild things happening in my life during my studies. The biggest event definitely was my divorce. The iphone developer has successful experience in developing various apps.

Professionally, I have been employed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 13 years as a counselor and social worker. In my spare time (Is there really such a thing?), I like reading, watching movies and going to the beach.

I am a Christian and am connected to a wonderful church here in Miami. I am certain that my being rooted there has saved my life (and my mind!) many times over. Through that ministry I teach Christian Counseling at the Antioch Bible College and I have completed the certificate program in Loss and Healing at St. Thomas University, which prepares me to do grief and bereavement counseling.

I consider myself to be a workaholic, so I enjoy being a part of Sisterfriends as it gives me positive “down-time”, from work. I love laughing and having purposeful interaction with the ladies. As a new member, they have really embraced me. I look forward to becoming a productive member of Sisterfriends.
